Seminar Summary
With one in every five Canadians personally experiencing a mental illness, employers are understandably concerned about the impact of mental health on employees and the workplace. If unmanaged, mental health issues can lead to increased employee turn-over and short-and long-term disability claims, while exposing the employer to legal sanctions for discrimination or failing to accommodate employees. In this seminar, we will provide advice on how to manage mental health issues in the workplace and answer the questions below.
- What are some workplace signs that an employee may be experiencing a mental health issue?
- Is it discriminatory to discipline or manage the performance of an employee with a mental health issue?
- When does the duty to accommodate a mental health issue arise?
