Seminar Summary
Sophisticated employers and human resource professionals know the value of a timely, thorough and properly conducted investigation. An effective investigation reduces the chance of subsequent litigation and increases the prospect of success should an employer’s decision be challenged. However, many employers are not aware that when faced with a situation requiring an investigation, their actions within the first 72 hours are of vital importance. In this seminar, we will share practical tips and best practices on key issues during that critical window.
- The crucial stage: Planning the investigation
- Who should investigate
- Whether the investigation can and should be protected by solicitor-client privilege
- Working with the union and avoiding reprisal claims
- Effective interviewing and communication
